Many people struggle with the idea that they have had a traumatic event impact them. They believe that they will recover from it on their own, and sometimes they do. However, many people are not able to process the effect of a trauma on their life, and they should not have to deal with it on their own.
Attending therapy to discuss a recent or past trauma can provide an immediate improvement to mood, interactions with friends and family, and enjoyment of daily life. Although sometimes we believe that if we simply do not think about something it will go away, this is not always the case. Talking about your feelings is a strength and the first step to feeling better.
